Morouje Sherif
Grace Qiu
Editor-in-Chief and Founder
Morouje Sherif is a high school student at WCI who adores apricots, the literary arts, and the colour of the sky when nobody is dreaming of it. Asides from writing and studying in school, you can find her judging dubious architecture, toying with graphic design, appreciating the colour sage, and contemplating the paradox of non-places and her endlesss ideas.
Editor-in-Chief and Founder
Grace is an avid joke-teller, passionate debater, and lover of all things baked. With an interest in exploring the depths of thought and engaging in meaningful discourse, Grace is excited to serve on The Viking View's executive team. Apart from her intellectual pursuits, you can find Grace rewatching a 2000s movie, editing her vlogs, or reading niche (and hilarious) blogs on Substack.
Executive Team
Saba Borhan
Saba is a fourth-year student at WCI who enjoys reading, going on long walks, and listening to music. She has a passion for visual arts, and you could catch her in math class sketching a little something here and there. If school is kind enough to offer her free time, she’d spend an entire day dedicated to Netflix, (instead of an entire night…). She also loves graphic design - posters, logos, and visual art! Though Saba has not yet had the opportunity to be a part of a newspaper before, she hopes that she can make this paper a memorable and joyful thing for herself and others to enjoy, engage through, and look back upon.
Adhara Collins Scholten
Adhara is a passionate yet well-rounded individual who will manage to find some interest in everything; both a gift and an inconvenience. As an adventurous girl at heart, you can find her exploring nature with a camera slung over one shoulder when she isn’t fulfilling the responsibilities of her many extracurriculars :). Adventure applies to food as well- she has a love for anything and everything peanut butter! Over the summer, Adhara had the privilege of taking her lifesaving, lifeguarding and instructing courses with the plans of becoming an instructor/guard and potentially running a swimming lesson business. Throughout her life, Adhara is determined to live up to her childhood promise of changing the world by doing something she loves.
ShanLin Boychuk
ShanLin is a third-year student at WCI who is looking forward to honing her communications skills with The Viking View & VERDANT. When she’s not in school or counselling at summer camp, there’s a good chance that she can be found exploring various genres of music, taking her dog on long walks around the neighbourhood, or going down a YouTube spiral of TEDEd videos. ShanLin’s current obsessions are dark academia books, portrait photography, and romance films — though that’s subject to change as she finds there are so many wonderful things to do in the world and not nearly enough time for them all.
Luisa Coskun
Luisa Coskun is a third-year student at WCI who spends much of her time reading, swimming and blasting her music throughout her house. She enjoys quiet rainy nights and sitting by candlelight as much as the next girl, but spends a lot of her limited free time with friends instead. When Luisa isn’t stressing over her courseload, you will probably find her huddled over the most obscene of books or cuddled at her desk watching a morbid documentary. Having worked for a newspaper before, Luisa is excited to be bringing the joy of the student newspaper to WCI, hoping her experience will help contribute to connecting students throughout the school and forming unlikely friendships of their own. She’s found joy in sharing stories and experiences of her own, and hopes now to share that feeling with others.
Esther Kim
Esther Kim is a typical high school student at WCI trying her best to balance school work and her personal life. With immense interest in the visual arts and literature, she spends most of her time torturing herself to express creative thoughts through various mediums such as drawing, animating and writing. An accomplishment she is proud of is winning an art contest as a self-taught artist. If not draining herself for academic achievements, she is most likely to binge-watch a TV show or an anime whilst knitting or crocheting. Although it seems like a waste of time, it also is essential for her to spend time in her head in order to take a break from reality.
